What Is Qingming Festival?
Qingming Festival or Tomb Sweeping Day (清明节), literally meaning “Clear and Bright,” is one of China’s oldest and most heartfelt traditional holidays. Dating back over 2,500 years, it is observed on April 4th or 5th and is a time for families to visit and tidy ancestral gravesites.
During Tomb Sweeping, people clean the tombs by removing weeds, sweeping dust from the headstones, and sometimes even repainting inscriptions. It’s also common to offer tea, wine, fruits, and cooked dishes—sometimes the favorite food of the deceased. Many families burn incense and joss paper (also called “spirit money”) to symbolically provide comfort and prosperity to their ancestors in the afterlife.

Children often accompany their parents or grandparents to participate, passing down this tradition of remembrance and respect across generations.
While it is a solemn day of remembrance, it is also a celebration of renewal and life. Spring outings, kite flying, and shared meals often accompany the rituals. It is a holiday that beautifully blends reflection with reconnection.
Sharing Chinese Culture: The Meaning of Qingming Festival
At Petrust®, we’re more than a pet care manufacturer—we’re a team that values connection, culture, and care. As a company proudly rooted in China and serving partners across the globe, we believe that sharing our cultural traditions—like Qingming Festival—is a meaningful way to build mutual understanding and trust with our B2B clients.
Qingming Festival (Tomb Sweeping Day), is much more than a public holiday. It’s a time to pause, reflect, and honor. A moment to remember our roots, pay tribute to those who came before us, and express gratitude for the relationships we cherish today—including those we have with our beloved pets.
How Qingming Festival Reflects Our Core Values
At Petrust®, we often say: pets are family. And like any family member, they deserve to be cared for with love, attention, and respect. Why Qingming Festival Resonates with Pet Lovers
Qingming reminds us to honor those who came before, but it also gently nudges us to cherish what we have now. Many of us who love pets know the quiet heartbreak of saying goodbye to a furry friend. The rituals of remembrance—whether for ancestors or beloved animals—share a common language of love, memory, and care.
Just like we sweep the tombstones of our forebears, we also take quiet moments to reflect on the animals who have made our lives brighter. Their loyalty, their quirks, their companionship—all live on in memory.
That’s why at Petrust®, we design every feature with empathy. From spill-resistant bowls to customizable feeding times, everything is built with the idea that caring is remembering, and remembering is love in action.
A Culture of Care Behind Every Product
We believe that every litter box, feeder, or fountain that leaves our facility should be a reflection of our culture of care. More than just technology, our products are built with:

From Our Team, With Heart
We asked some of our team members what Qingming means to them. Here’s what they shared:
“It’s a time to honor and reflect, but also to reconnect. And that spirit is something we bring into how we treat our customers, too.”— Wendy, Sales Director
“Even though Qingming is rooted in the past, it helps us think more intentionally about the present—at home and at work.”— Alex, Senior Engineer
“I bring my kids with me every year. We talk about our family, where we come from. And then we go home and play with the cat. It’s a full circle.”— Jing, Operations Manager
